Job Description

Empowering Learning are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team on a full-time basis. This role involves working closely with pupils who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing tailored support to help them achieve their full potential in a nurturing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering personalised learning plans
  • Support pupils with a range of needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties)
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional development
  • Help create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting back to teachers and SENCO
  • Assist with personal care where required

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children with SEND (preferred)
  • A patient, empathetic, and caring approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
