SEND Teaching Assistant KS1 Autism Support Some pupils need a calm, predictable adult to help them feel safe enough to learn. This role is about being that steady presence during an important transition. We're looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to support four Year 1 pupils with autism within a small, adapted provision at mainstream primary school in Coventry. This is a full-time, short-term placement (6 weeks initiailly) covering a staff absence, with the potential to extend depending on recovery timelines. Consistency and continuity matter in this setting, and your role will help maintain both. The role * Provide 1:1, 1:2, and small group support for KS1 pupils with autism * Work primarily within the schools SEN provision during mornings, with classroom-based support in the afternoons * Support emotional regulation, communication, and access to learning * Follow clear routines and predictable approaches that help pupils feel secure * Work closely with an experienced Teaching Assistant and the class teacher * Contribute to a calm environment where progress is measured in small, steady steps What we’re looking for * Experience (6+ months) supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly autism, in an education setting * Comfort working with pre-verbal pupils and supporting sensory needs * A calm, patient, and consistent approach * Confidence working as part of a team and communicating openly * An understanding that emotional regulation comes before learning * Bucket time experience is helpful but not essential What we offer * Full-time hours, 8:30am to 3:30pm * Clear routines and a structured setting * Strong day-to-day team support and SENCO guidance * A role where expectations are realistic and support is shared Why Sprint?
