SEN Teaching Assistants We are seeking a compassionate and skilled SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with complex learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), non-verbal communication, and developmental delays. U-Educate work with many SEN Specialist and Primary Schools across Birmingham. You will play a vital role in delivering inclusive education and promoting independence through tailored support strategies. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD and other learning needs. Use Makaton and PECS to facilitate communication with non-verbal learners. Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans. Support pupils with personal care, sensory needs, and emotional regulation. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and external agencies to ensure holistic support. Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and interventions. Essential Skills & Experience At least 3-6 months experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly ASD within the last 3 years. Proficiency in Makaton and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). Experience working with non-verbal pupils and adapting communication strategies. Understanding of safeguarding, child development, and inclusive education. Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils, families, and staff.
