Key Responsibilities Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, speech & language needs, SEMH, and learning disabilities. Assist the class teacher in adapting and delivering differentiated learning activities to meet individual needs. Support pupils in developing independence, confidence, communication, and social skills. Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs, behaviour plans, and individual learning plans. Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and well-being through consistent, nurturing support. Prepare and organise resources to enhance learning experiences. Help pupils engage with classroom routines, transitions, and sensory or therapeutic activities. Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCO, therapists, and external professionals to monitor progress. Maintain clear records of support, behaviour, and achievement where required. Ensure the classroom remains a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all pupils. Person SpecificationEssential Skills & Qualities Experience working with children (SEN experience preferred but not essential). A positive, energetic, and proactive attitude. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting children with complex needs. Understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and inclusive practice. Ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with pupils. GCSE English & Maths (or equivalent qualifications). Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain). Desirable Skills Experience with ASD, SEMH, or non-verbal communication strategies (PECS, Makaton). Training in Team Teach, First Aid, or behaviour de-escalation. xehkeey Previous school-based or educational support experience.
