Location: Preston & Chorley
Start Date: ASAP (February 2026)
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
The Role: Lead, Inspire, and Transform
Are you a patient, dedicated individual who believes that every child deserves the chance to thrive? We are looking for empathetic and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to join specialist school settings across Preston and Chorley.
Our provisions support children and young people aged 6 to 19 with mild, moderate, and severe Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), alongside complex learning needs and challenging behaviour. Your mission is more than just classroom support; it is about providing a "fresh start" in every session and helping students navigate the world with confidence and safety.
What a Typical Day Looks Like
08:30 - Team Preparation: Arriving before students to prep sensory resources and liaise with the specialist support teams on the day's objectives.
09:00 - The Meet & Greet: Welcoming students (ages 6-19) as they arrive, reading their body language, and ensuring a calm, positive transition into the school day.
09:30 - 1:1 or 2:1 Support: Working closely with specific pupils to help them access a tailored curriculum that meets their unique learning pace and sensory needs.
11:00 - Emotional Regulation: Supporting students through periods of deregulation using nurturing techniques and following individualised behaviour and emotional support plans.

15:15 - Debrief & Handover: Reflecting with the Class Teacher and the school's specialist support teams on the "small wins" of the day and prepping for tomorrow.Who We Are Looking For
We welcome applications from experienced Teaching Assistants, Support Workers, or Psychology/Education Graduates eager to build a career in SEN. Candidates with a strong background in Child Healthcare also possess excellent transferable skills for this role.
The Nurturing Mindset: You remain calm and composed under pressure, even when faced with challenging behaviour or complex emotional needs.
Relationship Focused: You understand that for our students, learning only happens once a meaningful, trusting bond is formed.
Adaptability: You can shift your approach instantly to meet the sensory or emotional needs of the room.
Experience: Previous experience with ASC, SEND, or healthcare settings is highly desirable. Why Join Us?
Specialist Environment: Work within dedicated SEN provisions with access to expert support teams and tailored resources.
Meaningful Impact: You will see the direct result of your work as students develop life skills, confidence, and emotional resilience.
Professional Growth: An excellent opportunity for graduates or healthcare professionals to gain high-level, practical SEN experience.
Local Community: Conveniently located for those commuting within the Preston and Chorley areas. How to Apply
If you are ready to make a profound difference to the lives of young people with complex needs, we want to hear from you. Please submit your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your experience with ASC or "hard-to-reach" learners.
