About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Portsmouth, working with primary-aged students in a small class of nine learners. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a nurturing environment that prioritises individualised learning and holistic development.

The role begins immediately and will run until Easter, with the possibility of extension through July 2026. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to meet the needs of students with a range of complex learning difficulties and additional needs.

This is a highly regarded specialist school for children aged 11–16 with complex learning difficulties and disabilities, including autism, speech and language needs, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver differentiated lessons for a small group of primary-aged students
Support learners with a range of complex needs, including autism and communication difficulties
Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
Work closely with support staff and therapists to implement EHCP targets
Monitor and assess student progress, adapting strategies as needed
Uphold safeguarding and wellbeing standards at all times

Person Specification

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching students with SEN (particularly autism and complex needs)
Strong classroom management and ability to adapt teaching strategies
Patient, empathetic, and committed to inclusive education
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
