SEN Teachers (High Needs / Complex Needs / ASC – SLD) UET1
* Location: KT3 area (Specialist SEN setting)
* Start Date: 13th April
* Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience and qualifications)
We are seeking two highly committed and resilient teachers to join a specialist SEN setting in the KT3 area, working with pupils who present with profound and multiple learning needs.
This role is suited to professionals who understand the realities of working in a high-support, intensive environment, and who are passionate about delivering meaningful education to pupils with significant barriers to learning.
About the Role: You will be teaching small classes of pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and complex needs, many of whom:
* Are non-verbal or have very limited communication
* Require high levels of sensory regulation and structured routines
* May display challenging behaviours linked to unmet needs
* Need personal care support as part of their daily routine
* Are working significantly below age-related expectations, often on pre-formal or early developmental pathways
This is a hands-on role that goes beyond traditional teaching. You will be expected to work closely with support staff and therapists to deliver a highly personalised, holistic curriculum focused on communication, independence, and life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver highly differentiated, individualised learning programmes
* Use specialist approaches (e.g. visual supports, sensory integration strategies, structured teaching)
* Lead and direct a team of support staff within the classroom
* Support pupils’ communication, regulation, and behaviour needs
* Contribute to EHCP targets and multi-disciplinary reviews
* Maintain a calm, safe, and consistent learning environment
We are looking for candidates who:
* Hold QTS (or equivalent)
* Have experience in SEN, particularly with SLD, ASC, and complex needs (strongly preferred)
* Are emotionally resilient, patient, and adaptable
* Are comfortable supporting pupils with personal care and high dependency needs
* Can remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to challenging situations
* Are committed to inclusive, child-centred practice
