SEN Teaching Assistant

Pay: £14.33 – £15.93 per hour
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (term-time only)
Contract: Temporary / Long-term / Permanent opportunities
Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking SEN Teaching Assistants to work in specialist schools across Southampton and Winchester, supporting pupils with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), social and communication challenges, and complex learning profiles.

The Role

* Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with EHCPs (Education, Health & Care Plans)

* Support students in their academic, social, and emotional development

* Implement strategies to help pupils overcome barriers to learning

* Assist teachers with classroom management and resource preparation

* Build trusting relationships with pupils, promoting confidence and independence

* Monitor and record progress, sharing feedback with teaching staff and SENCOs

Requirements

* Minimum 3 months' experience working with children or young adults in education, care, or specialist settings within the last 2 years

* Empathy, patience, and adaptability

* Strong communication skills for working with pupils, staff, and parents

* A proactive, supportive, and positive approach

* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
