Section Maintenance Engineer - Heavy Engineering

We are looking for a Section Maintenance Engineer to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production plant within a heavy industrial steelmaking environment. You will be responsible for maintaining key assets, minimising downtime, and driving continuous improvement in a fast‑paced, safety‑critical operation.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver planned preventative maintenance and respond effectively to breakdowns.
Fault‑find and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Take ownership of assigned plant and equipment, including cranes and heavy machinery.
Lead improvement activities to enhance reliability, safety, and performance.
Supervise contractors and ensure compliance with site safety standards.
Record work and manage spares using a CMMS (e.g. SAP).
Ensure all work complies with LOLER, PUWER, and site safety procedures.Requirements

NVQ/ C&G/HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
Experience in steel, heavy engineering or other other manufacturing such as Aerospace, Nuclear, Defence, Oil & Gas, Automotive, Glass etc (other manufacturing industries may be considered)
Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
Safety‑focused approach with good communication skills.
