Caretaker - Secondary Schools (Hemel Hempstead)

Full-time | 5 days per week

We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and committed Caretaker to join our team, working across a range of inclusive and supportive secondary schools in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

The Role

As a Caretaker, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the school site, ensuring that the premises are safe, clean, and well maintained for students, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities include:

Opening and securing school buildings

General maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks

Health & safety checks and compliance

Monitoring site security and reporting issues

Liaising with school staff and contractors

Supporting with room setups and school events as required

Ensuring the school environment remains clean, safe, and presentable

The Ideal Candidate

Available now on a full time basis until February half term, extension expected
Previous caretaking, facilities, or maintenance experience (school-based experience desirable but not essential)

Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills

Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently

Strong awareness of health & safety

Friendly, approachable, and professional manner

Willingness to work at a busy site in Hemel Hempstead
