Job Title: School Caretaker Location: Hertfordshire Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Pay: £14 - £18 per hour (depending on experience)

We are looking for a dedicated and trustworthy School Caretaker . This is a key role in ensuring our school premises are safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained. You will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the buildings and grounds, supporting the smooth running of the school and creating a positive environment for staff and pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

Opening and closing the school premises

General maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks

Conducting regular health & safety checks, including fire alarm testing and risk assessments

Ensuring the site is clean, tidy, and presentable at all times

Managing heating, lighting, and alarm systems

Assisting with deliveries and moving furniture or equipment as required

Grounds maintenance (e.g., litter picking, basic gardening)

Responding to emergency call-outs or site issues

Experience & Skills Required:

Previous experience as a caretaker, site manager, or in a facilities/maintenance role - preferably in a school or similar environment

Good knowledge of basic maintenance tasks (plumbing, painting, carpentry, etc.)

Understanding of health & safety regulations and safe working practices

Ability to work independently and take initiative
