Main Purpose of the Role Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the SOE Manager will lead and coordinate the local engineering function to support sales and production operations. The goal is to ensure on-time delivery of Load Banks and Dynamometers to the correct cost, quality, and technical specification.
The role involves cross-functional collaboration, supplier and customer communication, and proactive management of engineering processes and outputs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the front-end customer support engineering team delivering applications, technical support, costing guidance, and BOM selection/creation.
Oversee electrical and mechanical engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of build definitions, electrical drawings, technical checks, and sheet metal programs.
Maintain product build data accuracy via 3C processes and enforce document/data control protocols.
Drive current product enhancements, cost and quality improvements, and regulatory compliance through established change management processes.
Support and lead product field quality investigations and corrective actions.
Ensure products meet design-for-manufacture (DFM) principles and performance expectations.
Develop engineering technical specifications and schematics to support sales orders; participate in FATs and customer technical audits.
Generate test reports and technical documentation to support product usage by customers.
Manage specific customer sales order projects from an engineering perspective.
Identify and implement improvements by leveraging new and emerging technologies.
Continuously improve engineering systems and processes to enhance departmental and business efficiency.
Ensure all products comply with relevant codes and standards (e.g., CE, UL, CSA).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (BSc/BEng) in a relevant engineering discipline.
5–10+ years of experience leading and coordinating engineering functions or technical project teams.
Professional Engineering (PE) status is advantageous.
Key Skills & Experience
Strong background in electrical machine design related to Load Banks, Gensets, Transformers, or grid-connected power systems.
Knowledge of low and medium voltage electrical systems.
Proven leadership capability with energy, adaptability, and strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Experience with similar electrical products and an ability to implement best practices that support business growth.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders internally and externally
