Job Title: Sales Director – Material Handling Equipment
Location: Remote (UK-based)
Reports To: Managing Director / Chief Commercial Officer
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Sales Director to lead our sales function within the Material Handling Equipment (MHE) sector in the UK. This is a remote role with national responsibilities, suited for a commercial leader with a strong background in forklifts, warehouse automation, industrial trucks, or related equipment and services.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the UK MHE market, including end-user needs, distribution channels, and technical sales processes. You will take ownership of sales strategy, revenue growth, and key customer relationships, while building and managing a high-performing sales team.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute a UK-wide sales strategy aligned with company growth goals.
- Lead go-to-market planning, pricing strategy, and market penetration efforts.
Team Development & Management
- Recruit, coach, and lead a high-performing remote sales team.
- Set clear objectives, KPIs, and accountability across regional territories.
Revenue Generation
- Drive new business development and manage key accounts in warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, and distribution sectors.
Customer & Channel Management
- Maintain strong relationships with end users, OEMs, dealers, and strategic partners.
- Identify and develop key accounts and long-term customer relationships.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments.
- Provide market feedback to product and service teams to support innovation.
Reporting & Forecasting
- Oversee sales forecasts, pipeline development, and performance reporting using CRM tools.
- Report directly to the leadership team on progress and strategic opportunities.
Key Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of sales experience in the Material Handling Equipment industry, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership or director-level role.
- Proven track record of exceeding sales targets in a B2B technical or capital equipment environment.
- Strong understanding of MHE products, systems, and customer applications.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
- Experienced in managing national or regional sales teams in a remote setting.
- Skilled in strategic selling, solution-based sales, and long sales cycles.
- Proficient in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- UK-based, with the right to work in the UK and willingness to travel when required.
- Background in automation, warehouse logistics, or industrial supply chains.
- Experience selling both direct to end users and through channel partners.
- Knowledge of sustainability trends in the MHE sector (e.g., electric vehicles, energy-efficient systems).
- Familiarity with leasing, rental, and service contract models.
