Quartz Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a well-loved and busy restaurant in Barnstaple. We are seeking a confident, hands-on Restaurant Manager to support day-to-day operations and help maintain high standards across the business.
This is a great opportunity for a hospitality professional looking to take the next step, or for a manager seeking a role with more autonomy and influence. The business has a supportive, happy team and strong systems already in place and is now looking for someone who can lead from the front and be fully involved in day-to-day operations.
The role
This is a working management position, ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on and visible within the business.
You will take responsibility for the smooth running of the restaurant, supporting the proprietors while overseeing service, standards, staff performance and operational efficiency. This is not a turnaround role, the foundations are already strong, with settled teams and clear processes in place.
The role offers fair and organised rota planning, with the flexibility to choose between straight shifts or split shifts depending on your preference. There are no excessive late nights, and the owners are supportive when it comes to time off and worklife balance.
The position offers a 40+ hour working week on a set shift pattern.
Key responsibilities
Lead, motivate and support the team
Be hands-on during service, supporting front and back of house
Deliver excellent customer service and front of house standards
Train and develop staff to ensure confidence and consistency
Maintain food quality, hygiene and operational procedures
Support stock control, suppliers and deliveries
Assist with recruitment, onboarding and ongoing staff development
Provide strong, visible leadership during busy periods
Contribute ideas to improve service, efficiency and overall performance
About you
You will be a proactive and organised hospitality professional who enjoys responsibility and thrives in a busy but well-run environment.
You may be an existing manager, or a strong supervisor or assistant manager ready to take the next step, with the right support in place.
You will ideally have:
Experience in a restaurant, hospitality or food-led environment
Strong front of house presence and leadership skills
Confidence training and developing team members
A hands-on, solutions-focused approach
A good understanding of food hygiene and compliance
Experience in high-volume or quick-service environments would be advantageous, but not essential.
