Role Purpose The Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) plays a vital role in delivering safe, person-centred and therapeutic mental health care across inpatient wards, crisis teams, rehabilitation units and community mental health services.

Key Responsibilities 1. Mental Health Assessment & Care Planning Complete mental health and risk assessments. Develop, implement and review care plans. Monitor mental state and clinical presentation.

2. Therapeutic Intervention & Support Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Support patient engagement in structured routines.

3. Medication Management Administer medication safely and professionally. Monitor side effects, compliance and treatment effectiveness.

4. Safeguarding & Risk Management Implement safeguarding procedures. Use de-escalation techniques appropriately.

5. Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration Work with psychiatrists, psychologists, OTs, support workers. Participate in MDT meetings and handovers.

6. Documentation & Governance Maintain accurate care notes. Support audits and continuous improvement processes.

Person Specification Essential: NMC RMN registration. Experience in mental health settings. Strong risk management and clinical decision-making skills.

Desirable: PMVA/MAPA training. Experience in PICU, crisis or rehab environments.
