Key Responsibilities

* Clinical Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct comprehensive health assessments, monitor vital signs, and interpret patient data.

* Medication Management: Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and company guidelines. Monitor residents for any effects of medication and report changes promptly.

* Wound Care and Medical Procedures: Perform various clinical procedures such as wound dressing, managing injections, and overseeing specialist equipment like IV drips.

* Health Promotion and Monitoring: Monitor residents' reactions to treatments, report changes in conditions to doctors, and adjust care strategies as necessary. Educate residents and their families on health management and preventative care.

* Leadership and Supervision: Lead the care team during shifts, supervising, mentoring, and guiding junior staff such as care assistants and support workers. Ensure high standards of care are maintained consistently.

* Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident records and ensure all care adheres to regulatory frameworks, including CQC guidelines and data protection legislation.

* Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies and urgent situations, delivering immediate interventions when necessary.

* Communication and Collaboration: Liaise effectively with visiting GPs, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other external healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive, holistic care.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

* Qualifications: Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is mandatory. A nursing degree (adult specialism is typical) is required.

* Skills:

* Strong clinical decision-making and risk management abilities.

* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

* Compassion, empathy, and patience.

* Ability to work autonomously and manage pressure effectively.

* Knowledge of complex conditions related to aging, such as dementia and palliative care.

* Checks: A valid Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is a standard requirement for working with vulnerable adults
