An established infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of a range of civils and infrastructure works from their office in Livingston. The role sits within a growing division delivering high-volume infrastructure projects, typically within programmes valued between £10m£12m, covering civils and related works across multiple smaller schemes. This opportunity would suit a commercially aware Quantity Surveyor who enjoys cost management and commercial oversight, rather than a heavily site-based project QS role.
The Role The role focuses primarily on commercial management and financial performance across multiple projects, working closely with the commercial leadership team to ensure works are delivered efficiently and profitably.
Responsibilities will include: Commercial management of civils and infrastructure works
Cost management and financial performance monitoring
Producing Cost Value Reports (CVRs) and commercial reporting
Reviewing project costs and ensuring works are priced appropriately
Reviewing contract terms and conditions
Supporting operational teams with commercial guidance
Maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders
This role is primarily office-based with some hybrid flexibility, allowing close collaboration with the wider commercial and operational teams.
Project Environment The team deliver high-volume infrastructure works, typically across smaller value schemes within larger programmes of work. Projects commonly involve civils and infrastructure elements, including repair and maintenance activities.
What Were Looking For Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure, utilities, telecoms or civil engineering environments
Strong understanding of commercial reporting and cost management
Experience producing CVRs and monitoring project financial performance
Ability to review and understand contract terms and conditions
Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
Strong communication skills and ability to build internal relationships
Experience within telecoms, utilities or high-volume infrastructure environments would be beneficial but is not essential. This role could also suit a strong QS looking to step into their first Senior QS role in the future.
