This fantastic opportunity is to work for VolkerStevin on our Environment Agency framework. \n\nPosition overview: \n\nReporting to the Project Lead on site, the QS is responsible for all commercial and contractual matters on the site allocated to them and should be able to effectively manage an assistant surveyor to successfully deliver that project. On larger more intricate projects the QS may be required to carry out the same tasks for a section or sections of the works reporting to a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor.\n\nGENERAL:\n\nEnsuring there is effective cost management of the project through regular and accurate forecasting and cost/value reporting.\nLead and manage the procurement process to maximise profit and ensure subcontract orders are placed on time and in accordance with the company policy.
(including references taken, suitable levels of HSEQS etc)\nMonitor and maximise cash flow.\nSupport, advise, develop and train all members of the site team on commercial matters.\nBe aware of the contractual requirements of the project, advise the site team on key requirements and ensure that all notices and other matters are actioned accordingly to protect the business's contractual position (Main, Sub-Contracts and consultancy agreements)\nAct and ensure others are acting in the business's best commercial interests at all times.\nTo act professionally at all times and promote the company's best standards and practices\nMonitor and chase Main Contract payments \n\nSubcontract management:\n\nEnsure subcontractors are procured in accordance with the commercial policy\nEnsure that sub-contractor's scope of works are clearly defined and that all appropriate information is contained within the sub-contract documentation.\nEnsure that subcontracts are written so that they are inclusive of their responsibilities in terms of quality, programme, health, safety, environmental etc.\nEnsure the accurate measurement of the subcontractors works\nReview and collate records of subcontractors work and investigate the legitimacy of any account records provided by the subcontractor\nEnsure all contractual notices are issued in accordance with the sub-contract and the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009 (LDEDC).\nEnsure subcontracts are appraisals are carried out in a timely fashion and information is shared within the company.\nEnsure that subcontract payment made are done on the basis that the work has been carried out in accordance with the contract and to the correct quality\n\nCommercial:\n\nEnsure that the commercial team comply with the company commercial policy\nEnsure that monthly valuations are produced on time\nEnsure that the monthly commercial reports are produced on time\nCommercial reports to be provided in detail with all back up produced in accordance with the business's Commercial policy.\nEnsure subcontract payments are based on accurate valuation and are made on time\nMaximise revenue opportunities\nIdentify and manage scope and risks on an ongoing basis\nMinimise waste\nBe accountable for the commercial involvement and understanding of the programme at summary level.\nBe accountable for the active commercial involvement in contractual programming issues. \n\nAbout you\n\nEssential:\n\nAn accredited course by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS, the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES).Alternatively, a degree with some numerical or technical is advantageous. Relevant HND subjects include building/construction, urban and land studies, civil engineering and structural engineering.\nAdequate experience as a QS.\nA degree in QS and relevant experience obtained.If your past experience doesn't match perfectly with every requirement of the job description, we still encourage you to apply.
