Summary:
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join a Tier One contractor’s team in the North West. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring quality assurance and control throughout civil engineering projects. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining quality management systems, supporting compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role involves close collaboration with site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure that all deliverables meet the required standards and specifications. You will oversee quality documentation, inspections, and audits, and provide technical guidance to operational teams to promote a positive quality culture. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues, supporting project assurance activities, and contributing to the successful delivery of civil engineering works.
Skills:
Proven experience in quality engineering within civil engineering or heavy civils projects
Strong knowledge of quality management systems and ISO 9001 standards
Ability to develop, implement, and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
Experience in quality documentation control and audit processes
Competence in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong organisational and time management abilities
Ability to interpret construction specifications, standards, and regulations
Proactive approach to continuous improvement and quality culture promotion
Experience working within a Tier One contractor environment
Software/Tools:
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Quality management and audit software
Project digital management systems (e.g., BIM2Field or equivalent)
Certifications & Standards:
ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems knowledge
NEBOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification (desirable)
Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualification (advantageous)
Relevant industry-specific quality certifications or training
