AtkinsRéalis Transportation Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for the delivery of major transportation infrastructure projects and combines the best in project management and design management to provide a full suite of services to clients in the public and private sectors. The team is responsible for delivery of design services across our markets of Rail and Transit, Highways, Local Transport, and lean out into other sectors including Defence and Nuclear. We have a wide client base including HS2, National Highways, Network Rail, Irish Rail, Local Authorities, as well as several Principal Contractors.
We have an exciting vacancy within the PDP Rail and Transit team and are seeking an enthusiastic and confident Project Manager. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a talented individual who wants to take the next step in their career and take responsibility for projects from inception through to completion.
UK based and willing to travel 2-3 days per week across UK and Ireland to be involved in some of our most exciting flagship projects.
Your purpose:
Delivery and Leadership:
- Coordinate and deliver the agreed revenue, profit, and cash-flow expectations. You will be responsible for delivering schemes to budget and programme through feasibility and optioneering, to approval in principal and detailed design.
- Clear and accurate monitoring and reporting of project performance against programme, technical quality, financial and KPI targets; both internally and externally.
- Lead the project team - building, motivating, maintaining, coaching, guiding, and developing the team.
- Work with resource managers to undertake forward planning to ensure there is adequate capacity to meet requirements.
- Coordinate a common understanding of scope, programme, costs, constraints, risk and interfaces on your projects.
Governance and Commercial:
- Ensure compliance with AtkinsRéalis, Client, and Industry requirements. Management of Risk and Opportunity for the project from inception through to completion.
- Administer and negotiate change control, contract administration through the project life cycle.
Community and Development:
- Contribute to the Project Management community and share best practice and learnings.
- Mentor and develop Assistant Project Managers and other team members, as required.
Client:
- You will be the main point of contact with our client's project team on your projects.
- Develop and maintain client relationships to support project delivery performance and maximise potential for project extensions and new work.
- Embrace our "everyone sells" mentality to identify and develop future opportunities for AtkinsRéalis.
- Provide bid leadership on selective pursuits. Act as Bid Manager for small, medium, and large projects. Particular focus on ensuring the deliverability of the tendered works.
What you can bring:
- You are likely to have several years of multi-disciplinary infrastructure project delivery experience, ideally from within a consultancy environment.
- Project/Engineering Management background with experience within the Rail sector (eg. Network Rail and/or HS2 and Principal Contractors) - desirable.
- Understanding of Network Rail Standards.
- Experience of working closely and leading multi-disciplinary design teams (>£1m design fees).
- Understanding of design procedures, change control, checking and review requirements.
- Ability to work constructively and collaboratively with clients and internal teams to ensure project objectives are met.
- Understands and has experience in deploying various forms of construction contract, in particular NEC3 or 4 and/or bespoke forms of contract.
- Professional membership and recognised level of Project Management competence (eg. MAPM, MICE, PMǪ, or equivalent) - desirable.

Security clearance:
