Project Manager

Overview I am seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure works for new housing developments. This includes drainage and sewer networks, Section 278 highways works, earthworks, utilities and site-wide enabling activities. The Project Manager will be accountable for safety, programme, cost, quality and client satisfaction from pre-construction through to handover and adoption.
Role Purpose The successful candidate will provide leadership across planning, delivery and commercial management, ensuring that projects are executed to the required technical standards, adoptable criteria and regulatory approvals while maintaining strong relationships with developers, authorities and subcontract partners.
Key Responsibilities Lead the planning and delivery of civils infrastructure packages, including sewers, drainage, highways (S278), utilities, earthworks and associated works Manage project lifecycle - pre-construction, construction, testing, handover and adoption Develop project programmes, phasing strategies and resource plans Drive a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with HSEQ policies and legislation Control project costs, forecasting, variations and commercial performance in collaboration with commercial teams Ensure quality standards and technical specifications are met, including adoptable requirements for water companies and highway authorities Coordinate with local authorities, utilities, designers, clients and statutory bodies Manage procurement of subcontractors, suppliers, plant and materials Oversee project reporting, documentation, risk registers and change management Lead, support and develop site supervisors, engineers and subcontract teams Monitor progress, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect programme and budget Facilitate inspections, testing, as-builts and approvals through to handover and adoption
Skills & Experience Proven experience delivering civil engineering and infrastructure projects, ideally with developer-related works Strong knowledge of sewer and drainage infrastructure, S278 highways works and housing enablement packages Commercially astute with experience in contract administration, variations and forecasting Effective communicator and relationship builder across clients, authorities and subcontractors Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving capability Demonstrated leadership of site teams and supply chain partners Confident working with design information, technical documentation and regulatory approvals
Qualifications (Desirable) Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or Construction Management SMSTS or equivalent safety qualification CSCS Manager Card NRSWA Supervisor (advantageous for S278 works) First Aid Certificate Full UK driving licence
