The Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the Energy team. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of projects delivering upgrades and modifications to Transmission substation protection and control systems for Grid and other customers within the Power Transmission industry.
This role will suit a Project Manager with experience in engineering or regulated environments, ideally within power transmission or a similar sector. Occasional travel to customer sites will be required.
Key Responsibilities
Manage multiple projects valued between £50k and £600k, from initiation through to successful delivery
Ensure projects are delivered on time, to specification, within budget, and to high levels of customer satisfaction
Take full financial responsibility for assigned projects
Lead, motivate, and manage teams of hardware, software, and installation engineers
Manage and coordinate subcontractors
Ensure compliance with Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety standards, working closely with internal Q,E,H&S specialists
Hold regular progress and review meetings with clients
Support future business growth through excellent project delivery and strong customer relationships
Essential Requirements
Proven project management experience within an engineering or regulated industry (power transmission/energy )
Strong experience planning and scheduling using Microsoft Project
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Commercially astute, with the ability to identify and mitigate technical and commercial risks
Demonstrable track record of delivering projects to timescale, margin, quality, and customer satisfaction targets
Experience managing subcontractors
Strong leadership and people-management skills
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays
Desirable Requirements
Experience working under NEC3 / NEC4 contracts
APM Practitioner Qualification or equivalent (or working towards)
Experience with project proposals and bid support
