Project Engineer – Hydraulics Location: Egham, Surrey Salary: £30,000–£40,000 Contract: Permanent
We’re recruiting for a Project Engineer – Hydraulics on behalf of a well-established engineering business that designs and delivers bespoke hydraulic and motion control systems for demanding industrial applications. This is a varied, hands-on role combining project coordination, technical engineering and customer-facing work, with opportunities for both UK and international travel.
This position would suit an engineer with a strong background in hydraulics who enjoys seeing projects through from initial design and build, right through to installation, commissioning and customer support.
The Role As a Project Engineer, you’ll take responsibility for coordinating technical and operational aspects of customer projects. You’ll work closely with engineering, manufacturing and commissioning teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to specification. The role is primarily based at the production facility in Egham, with regular travel to customer sites for installation, testing and commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the implementation of projects both in-house and on customer sites Coordinate engineering design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and documentation Monitor project progress, resolve technical issues and report status to management Carry out in-house setup, testing, calibration and fault-finding of hydraulic systems Support on-site installation, testing, calibration and commissioning activities Ensure compliance with relevant standards and directives (ISO, Machinery Directive, Health & Safety) Prepare method statements, risk assessments and safe systems of work Act as the technical point of contact for customers during project delivery Liaise with customers to clarify requirements and provide post-installation training Provide ongoing customer support, both on-site and remotely Participate in design reviews and project close-out activities Knowledge, Skills & Experience Essential:
Minimum 3 years’ experience working with hydraulic systems in a manufacturing environment HND or degree qualification in an engineering discipline Strong hands-on experience with hydraulic system setup, testing and fault-finding Broad engineering knowledge across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic disciplines Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach Willingness to travel internationally when required Desirable:
Formal hydraulic qualification Experience with control systems or servo-controlled equipment Exposure to calibration, performance testing and compliance documentation Experience working on low-volume, high-value engineered systems Why apply?
