Production Planner

Overview Our client is seeking a highly organised and proactive Production Planner to take ownership of the production scheduling process and ensure seamless coordination across projects, materials, and manufacturing activities. This role is central to meeting production targets, improving planning efficiency, and supporting operational excellence across the business.

With decades of defence heritage, it supports major naval programmes with mission-ready, scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities Production Planning & Control Full ownership of the Production Plan, ensuring schedules are accurate, achievable, and aligned with business priorities.
Submit and communicate the Production Plan to the Production Team and key stakeholders.
Monitor production output and analyse schedule adherence, identifying risks or delays and taking corrective actions as needed.
ERP & Work Order Management Maintain and update ERP data for work orders, ensuring accurate material allocation and routing information.
Drive ERP improvements by identifying optimisation opportunities and contributing to system enhancement initiatives.
Collaborate with Logistics and Procurement to ensure material availability in support of the production schedule.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with the Production Manager to define and maintain daily, weekly, and long-term production targets.
Gather production requirements and priorities from Project Managers and translate them into actionable planning outputs.
Communicate effectively with Engineers, Project Managers, Production Teams, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth execution.
Skills & Experience Technical Skills Experience with ERP systems (IFS preferred, but not mandatory).
Strong Excel skills (intermediate to advanced), including data tables, lookups, and formula-based plan maintenance.
Soft Skills Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
Strong organisational abilities with a structured approach to managing rapidly changing priorities.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with frequent updates and shifting requirements.
