Production Design Support Engineer - Electronics - Manufacturing

Our client, a long standing partner to the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking an experienced Production Design Support Engineer to work directly alongside manufacturing and engineering teams, supporting products throughout their lifecycle in a live production environment.
This role suits an engineer who enjoys being close to the hardware, solving real production and obsolescence challenges, and owning technical work packages that directly impact delivery, availability and long term sustainability of complex electronic systems.
What youll be doing Providing engineering design and production support across the full product lifecycle, working closely with Manufacturing, Design and Supply Chain teams
Leading obsolescence management activities, assessing component and equipment risks and defining mitigation strategies to protect production continuity
Conducting technical assessments to evaluate design, configuration and change impacts to existing products and production equipment
Managing discrete engineering work packages, including estimation, planning, cost control and delivery of engineered solutions
Supporting proactive reporting of technical risk, performance and delivery status to key stakeholders
Working autonomously where required, taking ownership of assigned technical areas while collaborating across multi disciplinary teams

What were looking for Degree qualified in Engineering or equivalent practical industry experience
Proven experience in obsolescence management, lifecycle support or product sustainment within an engineering environment
Strong technical understanding of electronic equipment and systems, ideally within a manufacturing or production support setting
Experience working in production adjacent roles, supporting live products and resolving engineering issues
Background in managing engineering work packages, including bid preparation, estimates, delivery and cost control
Confident communicator, able to influence stakeholders and produce clear, concise engineering documentation
Comfortable working in multi disciplinary teams and navigating the challenges of complex engineering environments

This job is at our client's site in Bolton facility, one of the North West's leading manufacturing sites for at least 25 years. The facility offers showers and bike racks and is near the motorway, with a petrol station outside. Amenities like an onsite canteen.
