The Opportunity

A well-established, multi-office law firm in the South West is seeking a Senior Private Client Solicitor or Legal Executive to join its thriving private client department.

With offices across the region, including Taunton and Tiverton, the firm has a substantial and loyal client base and continues to see consistent growth in complex private client work. This is a senior-level appointment with clear scope to move quickly into team leadership or departmental management, should that be of interest.

The Role

This position sits at the senior end of the private client team and will involve handling complex and high-value private client matters, while also supporting the wider management of the department.

You will work closely with the Head of Department, contribute to strategic decision-making and provide guidance to more junior team members. The role offers flexibility around office base and working patterns.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a complex private client caseload, including:
• High-value probate and estate administration
• Trusts and trust structuring
• Wills and estate planning
• Court of Protection matters where required
• Acting as a senior point of contact for complex estates and trusts
• Supporting the Head of Department with team oversight and workflow management
• Mentoring and supervising junior Solicitors and Legal Executives
• Working collaboratively across multiple office locations
• Opportunity to progress rapidly into a Team Leader or senior management role

About You

• Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEx)
• Minimum 2 years’ PQE in private client law (strong experience is more important than title)
• Proven ability to manage complex private client matters independently
• Confident handling high-net-worth client work
• Open to taking on leadership or departmental responsibilities as the role develops
• Flexible regarding office location and hybrid working
