Competitive Overview Our client is an established structural engineering consultancy who has an immediate requirement for a Principal Structural Engineer to join its Derby office. The successful candidate will work within an experienced structural engineering design team, delivering a wide range of projects across the East Midlands and the UK. Key Responsibilities Structural design using industry-standard software, including TEDDS, TEKLA, and CSC Portal Frame Designer Completion of hand calculations where required Delivery of designs ranging from small housing schemes to multi-storey structures, with construction values from £250,000 to £30 million Contribution to projects delivered to BIM Level 2 Effective communication with clients and stakeholders, both verbally and in written English Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team while also working independently Supporting and assisting with the management and development of less experienced team members Skills & Competencies Essential: Strong analytical skills Educated to Bachelor's or Master's degree level Strong teamwork ethic Computer literate, with full competency in Microsoft Word and Excel Experienced in the use of AutoCAD for technical drawing Desirable: Experience using industry-standard software such as TEDDS, TEKLA, and CSC Portal Frame Designer Experience Suitable for an experienced Principal Structural Engineer, either working towards chartership or already chartered Proven experience designing structures using steel, timber, masonry, and reinforced concrete Sound knowledge of geotechnical engineering Experience working on projects across a variety of sectors and scales Professional Development Ongoing support toward gaining membership of relevant professional institutions Strong track record of mentoring engineers towards ICE or IStructE membership Personal Attributes Strong teamwork ethic combined with the ability to work independently Self-motivated and proactive Confident communicator Willingness to support and mentor junior engineers
