We’re Hiring: Head of Building & Civils Engineering (Rail Infrastructure)

Location: South Wales | Full Time | Permanent | Sector: Rail / Infrastructure Engineering

Are you ready to lead a high-performing team that keeps critical rail infrastructure safe, compliant, and future-ready?

We’re looking for an experienced Head of Building & Civils Engineering to lead the inspection, maintenance, and improvement of a major rail network assets. This is a senior leadership role focused on delivering operational excellence, safety culture transformation, and long-term asset performance.

Key Responsibilities:

✔ Lead the delivery of building & civils inspection, maintenance, and renewals

✔ Develop and implement annual business plans aligned with safety, compliance, and budget targets

✔ Drive cultural transformation in safety and engineering assurance

✔ Ensure compliance with standards, CDM regulations, and the Engineering Management Plan

✔ Lead and develop a skilled, competent, and flexible engineering team

✔ Collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers to innovate and improve performance

✔ Create and implement weather resilience and system integration strategies

✅ What You’ll Bring:

Essential:

Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering + relevant professional qualification

Strong technical experience in rail infrastructure inspections and maintenance

Proven leadership and communication skills

PTS and Full UK Driving Licence

High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

Desirable:

Knowledge of Network Rail's assets and standards

Experience with Enterprise Asset Management Systems

Background in railway operations or safety-critical engineering roles
