Job Title: Power Electronics Design Engineer
Location: Glasgow
Salary: Up to £60k (depending on experience)
We’re partnering with an innovative technology company seeking a Power Electronics Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on the design and development of advanced power electronic systems, from concept through to production, in a collaborative, technically driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop power electronic circuits, including DC-DC, AC-DC, and motor drive systems
Create schematics and PCB layouts for high-current and high-voltage designs, including multi-layer boards
Select components, calculate ratings, and manage bills of materials (BOMs) for power designs
Support prototype build, bring-up, testing, and debugging, including thermal and efficiency validation
Conduct design verification, EMC/EMI testing, and ensure regulatory compliance
Participate in design reviews and produce clear technical documentation
Support transition from prototype to production, including manufacturability and reliability considerations
Required Skills & Experience
Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
Strong experience in power electronics design (switch-mode power supplies, converters, motor drives, inverters)
PCB design experience using tools such as Altium, OrCAD, or KiCad, including high-current/high-voltage layouts
Solid understanding of power systems, thermal management, signal integrity, and EMC principles
Experience taking designs from concept through to manufacture and production
Exposure to embedded systems or microcontrollers is advantageous
Knowledge of relevant compliance standards (CE, UKCA, FCC)
