Job Title: Planning Engineer\nLocation: Manchester\nDuration: 2+ years (until October 2027) - Outside IR35\n\nWe are recruiting a Planning Engineer for a long-term contract based in Manchester, supporting a client that delivers railway automation and telecommunication solutions worldwide.\n\nYou will carry out project planning and control activities on designated projects, supporting Project Managers to ensure the successful planning and delivery of projects.\n\nKey Duties & Responsibilities:\n\nDevelop and maintain plans in line with the client's project management and planning processes.\n\nWork closely with project, commercial, and finance managers to ensure schedules are accurately developed, maintained, and resource/cost loaded.\n\nLiaise with site and possession planners to align activities with the main project schedule.\n\nSupport the Bids & Tendering team in developing tender plans through mobilisation into contract plans.\n\nBuild strong working relationships with client representatives to deliver efficient planning and controls solutions.\n\nPerform critical path analysis and identify key actions and areas of concern.\n\nProvide periodic project reporting, including KPIs, earned value, schedule delay, and critical path analysis, for internal and client reporting.\n\nConduct analysis and scenario modelling for project changes, providing risks, issues, cost, resource, and delay analysis.\n\nPromote and improve planning and controls practices within the organisation.\n\nEssential Requirements:\n\nHND/HNC qualification or equivalent experience.\n\nExperience in planning infrastructure projects, ideally within the rail industry.\n\nExperience working with project management teams internally and within client organisations.\n\nProficiency in Primavera, with knowledge of other planning tools such as MS Project.\n\nSelf-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills.\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\n\nDesirable Requirements:\n\nKnowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Prince 2).\n\nTechnical/Engineering background, ideally with railway knowledge.\n\n--- Fusion People are committed to promoting equal opportunities to people regardless of , , , belief, , sexuality or .
