Seeking a role at the forefront of scientific instrumentation and applied physics?
Our client, a leading developer of advanced electron-optical and surface science instruments, is seeking a Physicist to join their growing R&D team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career physicist to gain hands-on experience in experimental research, working on sophisticated technologies used by scientists and institutions worldwide.
The Role
As part of a collaborative R&D environment, you will support the design, testing, and development of precision scientific instruments. Working closely with senior physicists and engineers, you will help translate physical principles into practical, high-performance systems, gaining exposure to the full product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the design and execution of experiments related to electron-optical and surface science technologies.
* Support the development and testing of components and subsystems for advanced instrumentation, including microscopy platforms.
* Carry out experimental work in laboratory and cleanroom environments, including exposure to vacuum and surface analysis systems.
* Analyse experimental data and contribute to technical reports and documentation.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across physics, engineering, and materials science.
About You
* BSc, MSc, or PhD in Physics or a closely related discipline.
* Strong understanding of core physics principles with an interest in applied and experimental work.
* Some hands-on laboratory or research experience gained through studies, projects, or placements.
* Familiarity with electron microscopy, vacuum systems, or surface science techniques is advantageous but not essential.
* Motivated, detail-oriented, and keen to learn in a technically demanding environment.
