Nursery Assistant – Flexible Agency Work Across East Sussex

Onpoint Care Recruitment is expanding our Early Years team and we’re looking for warm, enthusiastic, and reliable Nursery Assistants to work flexibly across a variety of nurseries throughout East Sussex.

Key Responsibilities
* Support and supervise children in age‑appropriate, stimulating activities that encourage learning and social development
* Maintain a safe, clean, and well‑organised environment in line with health and safety standards
* Assist with daily routines including meal times, play sessions, toileting, and rest periods
* Communicate effectively with children, parents, and nursery staff to ensure consistent, high‑quality care
* Provide emotional support, reassurance, and encouragement throughout the day
* Carry out basic administrative tasks such as record keeping and updating child profiles when required
* Support outings, activities, and, where applicable, transporting children
* Contribute to nursery events and activities that enhance children’s learning experiences
Essential Requirements
* Previous experience working in a nursery or early years environment
* Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Children and Young People, Early Years, or an equivalent qualification
* Strong understanding of early childhood development and EYFS principles
* Ability to adapt quickly to different nursery teams and environments
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Confident in managing behaviour positively and building supportive relationships with children
* A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
* Right to work in the UK
Desirable
* NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent
