About Us
STEM Learning Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to improve lives through STEM education for every person in the UK, regardless of their background.
With programmes including Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for teachers, STEM Ambassadors, STEM Clubs and STEM resources, STEM Learning Ltd works to embed excellent STEM education from early years to post-16 levels. We drive to promote the breadth and depth of opportunities in STEM for all people. The Role
STEM Learning Ltd is now looking to strengthen its board to provide the support and challenge necessary to ensure our organisation can achieve its vision. We are looking for a new independent board member with experience around the tech or financial sector, and with an interest in STEM industries and education.
The role of Non-Executive Director supports the development of the organisation in terms of delivery, reach, and helping to influence the wider environment (including policy where appropriate). Board Members are expected to attend three formal meetings a year (usually held at the STEM Learning Centre in York) along with a strategy day. Additionally, Board Members are invited to contribute via email, telephone, and video conference at various times during the year, alongside attending a number of events. Independent Non-Executive Directors will be appointed in a personal capacity for a fixed three-year term, reviewed on an annual basis, and with an option to extend for a further three years.
STEM Learning Ltd was established in 2004 by the White Rose University Consortium, comprising the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam and York. All four Universities continue to be equal (25%) shareholders, each with a representative on the STEM Learning Ltd Board.
