Location: Hull
Salary: £46,000 - £47,000 + overtime
Hours: 3 - Shift / week one: Morning / Week Two: Afternoons / Week Three: Nights (8 hours Shift Pattern)
Contract: Full-time, permanent


The Opportunity

Our client, a leading manufacturing and packaging facility operating across multiple sites in Hull, is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to join their established engineering team.

You'll work across a mix of modern and ageing equipment, using your electrical and mechanical expertise to keep high-speed automated production lines running safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. This role suits a proactive, hands-on engineer capable of working to high standards without close supervision.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide effective breakdown response, repairs and maintenance across machinery, equipment, services and site facilities.

  • Carry out electrical and mechanical fault-finding, diagnostics, and repairs to minimise downtime and improve OEE.

  • Complete planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and create new PPM schedules where needed.

  • Install, commission and support new machinery and equipment.

  • Read, interpret, and update electrical and mechanical engineering drawings.

  • Liaise with the Maintenance Supervisor to prioritise tasks aligned with production demands.

  • Log all work using the site system (Shire) and ensure accurate documentation.

  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and support 6S, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Advise production during breakdowns using strong decision-making and root-cause analysis skills.

  • Support external contractors and engage with suppliers when required.


Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
  • Completed apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification.

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).

  • 16th/17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations (City & Guilds 2382).

  • Proven multi-skilled engineering experience within a fast-moving manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to read and update electrical and mechanical schematics.

  • Strong electrical fault-finding & diagnostic competence.

  • Experience with PPM, reactive maintenance, and plant repairs.

  • Good communication and ability to work effectively under pressure.


Desirable:
  • PLC knowledge: Siemens / Allen Bradley (fault finding/interrogation).

  • Experience working with TPM, OEE improvement and CI activities.

  • HMI/PLC understanding, basic programming adjustments (Desireable)
