Metallurgist

Location: Sheffield Salary: £50,000-£55,000 + up to 10% bonus Employer: REED Engineering & Manufacturing (recruiting on behalf of a leading Engineering & Manufacturing company)

Are you an experienced Metallurgist looking to join a world‑class engineering business? We're recruiting for a skilled professional to drive quality improvements, support customers, and lead technical projects across high‑performance alloys.

What you'll do

Lead quality and cost‑reduction projects (yield, right‑first‑time, etc.) Work directly with customers to define technical requirements and resolve issues Support Operations by solving internal technical problems Ensure product documentation is updated and compliant Establish and monitor KPIs for key processes Develop and introduce new products Mentor graduates and placement students Occasionally travel (UK & abroad) to support customers and witness sub‑contract work

What we're looking for

Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or similar 2-3+ years in aerospace, oil & gas, power generation, or similar sectors Strong understanding of steel and nickel‑based alloy metallurgy Experience with OEM quality systems Proficiency with improvement tools (RCCA, problem‑solving, SPC, etc.) Flexible approach to working hours when supporting audits or customer visits
