The Mentor Inclusion Worker will play a vital role in supporting the social and emotional development of children and young people. The focus of the role is to help individuals build positive social interactions, improve cooperative play skills, and raise self-esteem and confidence. You will work closely with vulnerable pupils to support behavioural change, improve attitudes to learning, and promote engagement in education through consistent, nurturing, and supportive 1-to-1 interventions. Organisation Summary
Our client works with some of the most vulnerable Year 1 to Year 11 pupils across Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, and North East Derbyshire. They provide an alternative pastoral provision aimed at engaging pupils who are excluded, at risk of exclusion, or awaiting SEN placements. Their approach is centred on positive relationships, individualised support, and helping young people re-engage with learning in a safe and supportive environment. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Work directly with service users to develop effective organisational and time-management skills to support day-to-day living and learning.
Maintain an ongoing caseload of service users, keeping accurate and up-to-date written records of meetings and interventions.
Monitor attendance and follow up on non-attendance where required.
Make recommendations to the manager regarding service users with complex or additional support needs.
Plan structured sessions for students and produce written reports based on monitoring, progress, and performance.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Minimum of
2 years experience
working with children and young people
Strong communication skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Good IT and computer skills
A non-judgemental, empathetic approach when working with challenging or vulnerable young people
