My client is looking for a Mechanical biased Project Manager to join their team, with a 3 year growth plan in place they are looking for someone to join their team ASAP, would potentially suit a site manager looking to step up to a PM and run jobs from £200k to 2.5m. Project Manager – Job Description
Reports to: Contracts Manager
Job Overview
Support the delivery of our clients business vision, goals, and strategy by managing construction projects from handover through to final completion.
Take full responsibility for safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery, ensuring programmes are met, costs are controlled, and client expectations are exceeded.
Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors, upholding standards in health & safety, technical delivery, and team performance.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Customer Relationships & Communication
Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
Act as the primary point of contact and represent our client professionally at all times.Attend and actively contribute to client and site meetings.
Provide timely reporting, including monthly progress reports and completion updates.Ensure all instructions, queries, and requests (e.g. RFIs, CVIs) are logged and responded to promptly.
Managerial Responsibilities
Take ownership of projects following handover from Estimating.
Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily site activities and subcontractor performance.
Manage Supervisors and site teams to ensure quality, safety, and productivity.
Deliver Social Value commitments (community engagement, local employment, sustainability).
Promote a positive health & safety culture aligned with company strategy and RAMS.
Mentor and support junior team members.
Ensure compliance with Integrated Management System (IMS) and contribute to continuous improvement.
Financial Responsibilities
Procure labour, materials, plant, and subcontractors in line with programme and budget.
Work closely with the Quantity Surveyor (QS) on forecasting and cost control.
Support change control processes, including variations and payment applications.
Provide cost updates for monthly financial reviews.
Contribute to Profit Enhancement Plans where required.
Technical Responsibilities
Oversee all M&E installations to ensure compliance and quality.
Lead coordination activities and attend design meetings.
Ensure design releases align with programme milestones (BWIC, coordination, record drawings).
Compile O&M manuals and ensure high-quality project handover and close-out.
Contractual Responsibilities
Understand and comply with contract terms and obligations.
Ensure timely issuance of key documentation (start letters, H&S files, completion certificates).
Maintain accurate and comprehensive project records.
Programming & Planning
Develop, maintain, and communicate a clear project programme.
Monitor progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
Identify key milestones and align delivery accordingly.
Proactively manage risks and escalate issues where necessary.
Competencies
Minimum Requirements
Relevant qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a relevant trade or project management role.
Proven experience managing M&E projects in a contracting environment.
SMSTS certification.
Relevant CSCS Card.
Desirable
First Aid at Work certification.
