Mechanical Maintenance TechnicianLocation: Manchester, M31 4QNSalary: £43,102.17 per annum + Uplift of £3,937.38 when training matrix metContract: Full-time, PermanentBenefits: Free onsite parking, Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work Scheme, Home & Tech Scheme, Costco discounts on memberships, Free teas and coffee, Free Flu Vaccinations, Subsidised onsite restaurant and Overtime rates: Weekdays: 1.75 x hourly rate, Weekends: 2 x hourly rate, Bank Holiday*: 2 x hourly rate, Special Holiday**: 3 x hourly rateSAICA Paper is part of the SAICA Group, one of Europe's leading manufacturers of recycled paper and corrugated packaging.The business is focused on the efficient and sustainable production of paper from recovered fibre, supporting circular economy principles and responsible manufacturing.Operating within a highly regulated industrial environment, SAICA Paper combines large-scale production capability with a strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.We're now recruiting for a skilled and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team!In this role, you'll play a vital part in maximising equipment reliability and performance across site.Working with modern maintenance practices and systems, you'll be responsible for both preventative and reactive maintenance, ensuring minimal downtime and supporting continuous improvement across operations.This is a hands-on, varied role within a fast-paced industrial environment, offering the opportunity to make a real impact on asset performance and operational efficiency.As our Mechanical Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for:Carrying out preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance across plant and site equipmentSupporting planned shutdowns and complete maintenance activities to agreed schedulesDiagnosing faults and support troubleshooting activities alongside engineering and production teamsEnsuring all maintenance work is completed to a high standard, in line with safety, quality and environmental requirementsAccurately recording maintenance activity within the CMMS (e.g. Maximo)Identifying recurring faults and contribute to long-term reliability and performance improvementsMaintaining and improving lubrication and greasing programmes across siteCarrying out oil sampling, basic analysis and condition monitoring activitiesIdentifying abnormal equipment conditions and take appropriate corrective actionSupporting ongoing equipment health checks and reliability initiativesPromoting high standards of health and safety across all maintenance activitiesEnsuring compliance with site procedures, legislative requirements and company policiesContributing to audits, investigations and continuous improvement initiativesAbout YouYou're a hands-on mechanical professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and keeping operations running smoothly.Essential Skills & ExperienceTime-served Mechanical apprenticeship (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent)Minimum 5 years' experience in a mechanical maintenance environmentStrong knowledge of modern maintenance techniquesExperience using CMMS systems (e.g. Maximo)Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilityGood understanding of Health & Safety practicesIt would be great if you had:Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumaticsExperience within manufacturing or heavy industrySAP experienceIOSH / NEBOSH qualificationIf you feel you have the necessary skills and experience to be successful in this role, please click on APPLY today!No agencies please.JBRP1_UKTJ
