Mechanical Technician Salary: £44,341.44 Location: Southampton Sector: Engineering
A leading engineering services provider is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join its team. This role is focused on rotating equipment maintenance, supporting high-quality repair, rebuild, and commissioning activities in line with company standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with site supervisors and engineers to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and operational excellence.
The Role
You will be responsible for the removal, inspection, repair, rebuild, installation, and commissioning of a variety of rotating equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, turbines, electric motors, and valves. You will work under the direction of site and client supervisors, supporting both corrective and preventative maintenance, and ensuring compliance with Trillium HSEQ and client-specific requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out maintenance, repair, and commissioning of rotating equipment to meet customer and company standards. Produce strip down reports, rebuild records, and test documentation accurately and on time. Follow engineering drawings, method statements, and technical specifications with precision. Maintain high standards of health & safety, housekeeping, and 5S practices in the workshop and on-site. Ensure permit-to-work procedures and other site requirements are strictly followed. Collaborate effectively with supervisors and colleagues to meet department KPIs. Proactively report issues, participate in investigations, and support continuous improvement. Be flexible to undertake ad hoc tasks as required, including overtime and call-out duties.
Requirements
Proven experience working with rotating equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, turbines, motors, and valves. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Good communicator, able to liaise with supervisors, engineers, and client personnel. Competent in Microsoft Office and ERP platforms such as Movex or equivalent. Client Contractor National Safety Group (CCNSG) Safety Passport, full UK driving licence, and valid passport. Medically fit for role and able to undergo drug and alcohol testing as required. Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
