Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: South West Of England

Contract Type: 4 Months Contract

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Alternating weekly shifts Hours: 7:00-3:30, 10:00-6:30

(Includes participation in on-call rota and occasional overtime as required)


Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support the delivery of facilities management services at south west of england. This is a hands-on mechanical maintenance role requiring fault diagnosis and independent repair capability.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the site.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults independently.
  • Maintain and repair:
  • HVAC systems and AHUs
  • Pumps and valves
  • Steam and condensate systems
  • TMVs (Thermostatic Mixing Valves)
  • Medical gas systems
  • Basic plumbing systems
  • Basic first fix electrical tasks (e.g., lamp changes)
  • Respond to breakdowns including leaks, temperature issues, water supply issues, and sanitary faults.
  • Prepare plant and pressure systems for inspection and carry out necessary repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory testing and inspection regulations (including BS 7671 where applicable).
  • Work collaboratively with engineering and fabric maintenance teams.
  • Participate in the 24-hour on-call rota as required.
  • Maintain full compliance with Health & Safety policies, Safe Systems of Work, and Risk Assessments.
  • Report any dangerous situations immediately to the Supervisor/Manager.
  • Drive company vehicle where required.


Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing, HVAC or related discipline.
  • Proven hands-on mechanical maintenance experience (design-only backgrounds will not be considered).
