Check you match the skill requirements for this role, as well as associated experience, then apply with your CV below. *Location: Derby/Shirebrook* *Department: Field Services* *Reporting to: Project Supervisor* *Contracting* Job Purpose Yellow Rail are working alongside a major railway wagon owner to install monitoring systems to their fleets of UK operated wagons. The successful applicant will become part of a select team of mechanical fitters required to undertake the installation of components and equipment to a set of modification instructions and drawings in line with quality procedures and health and safety requirements. Additionally there may be a requirement to support other projects working on both freight and passenger rolling stock. The role holder will be required to work at multiple sites across the UK and provide a high quality and consistent installation across a number of different wagon types to challenging timescales. Key Responsibilities · Assessing condition of the vehicle · Working on the underframe of freight wagons and also in the end compartments (where present) Carrying maintenance activities, exam, GRs, bogie and wheelset exchanges etc.. · Install new electrical and mechanical equipment to drawing/modification instructions · Cutting/drilling and altering steel members and plates on railway wagons and bogies · Working on wheelset axle ends (training will be provided) · Application of mechanical fastenings of all types using correct tooling · Installation of flexible conduits and cable harnesses · Installation of brake pipes · Connecting electrical connections and installing earth bonds (electrical wiring is not required) · Carrying out brake tests (training will be provided) · Carrying out system tests in accordance with procedures · Raising technical queries Personal Requirements · Must have relevant experience in a rolling stock engineering environment · Able to work as part of a team · Must have recognised relevant qualification to Level 3 standard (NVQ, C&G, BTEC, HND etc.) · Ability to complete all records of actions and operations accurately and to procedures · Able to read engineering drawings · Understands and cares for tools, equipment and PPE as appropriate · Attention to detail and accuracy and take pride in delivering a quality installation · Good communication skills · Able to work on own initiative · Willing to regularly work at sites across the UK _*This role is deemed to be safety critical.*_ Job Type: Fixed term contract Work Location: On the road
