Job Description
Job Title: Mechanical Engineer\nLocation: Birmingham\n\nSalary & Benefits\n\n * £32,000 – £35,000 per annum\n\n * 40 hours per week (7:30am – 4:00pm)\n\n * Opportunity to work across a varied healthcare estate\n\n * Ongoing training and development\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are currently recruiting for two Mechanical Engineers to join a well-established maintenance team supporting a healthcare contract across the Birmingham area.\n\nThis is a hands-on role where you will take a proactive approach to both planned and reactive maintenance. You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and ensuring mechanical systems are operating safely and efficiently in line with current regulations and standards.\n\nThe role may involve travel to other sites within the wider contract area, so flexibility is essential.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests\n\n * Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on complex mechanical systems\n\n * Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks\n\n * Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, standards, and operational procedures\n\n * Maintain accurate records of work completed\n\n * Support the wider engineering team when required\n\nSystems You Will Work On\n\nYou will be working across a variety of mechanical systems, including but not limited to:\n\n * Ventilation systems\n\n * Pumps and compressors\n\n * Boilers and heating systems\n\n * Medical gas systems\n\n * Domestic hot and cold water systems\n\nAbout You\n\nTo be successful in this role, you should have:\n\n * Previous experience working within a maintenance environment\n\n * Strong knowledge of complex mechanical systems\n\n * A recognised apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline (City & Guilds or equivalent)\n\n * Post-apprenticeship experience in a similar role\n\n * A proactive and problem-solving approach\n\nDesirable:\n\n * Experience within a healthcare or hospital maintenance environment\n\nAdditional Information\n\n * This role will involve occasional travel to other sites within the contract\n\n * Candidates should be comfortable working in a live healthcare environment\n\nIf you are a skilled Mechanical Engineer looking for a stable and rewarding role within a critical environment, we would love to hear from you
