You will be expected to carry out repairs and maintenance works in the most effective manner, supporting the companys commitment to safety and operational excellence.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week.

Our promise to you - Competitive salary - 29 days annual leave - Pension scheme - Life insurance - On-the-job training and progression - Recognition scheme - Refer a friend - Access to an Employee Assistance Programme and the Best Doctors Service via our Wellbeing Platform What will you be doing? - Maintain company vehicles, plant, and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation - Carry out preventive and planned maintenance, and keep accurate records - Investigate equipment failures and rectify defects promptly - Implement effective minor repairs and defect rectification - Ensure provision and security of materials, tools, and equipment for maintenance needs - Liaise with external agencies and contractors to support facility upkeep - Assist in instructing staff on the operation of plant and machinery - Carry out modifications and improvement activities to reduce downtime - Supervise contractors and issue/close Permits to Work in the absence of the Maintenance Manager - Undertake replacement of worn parts and support the reordering process for essential spares - Always adhere to Health and Safety policies and safe working practices - Any other duties as reasonably required What are we looking for? - Demonstrable understanding of Health & Safety and safe systems of work - City and Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or similar) preferred - Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written - The ability to follow instructions - Health and Safety minded, with good customer service skills - Enthusiastic, committed, and able to work independently with initiative - Adaptable, flexible, and comfortable with a variety of tasks and machinery - Polite, helpful, thorough, and takes pride in their work - A team player who is reliable, honest, and trustworthy - Full clean driving licence About us Severn Waste Services is the public face of municipal waste management in Worcestershire and Herefordshire and is part of FCC Environment, one of the nations leading waste and resource management companies.
