This is a key operational role working as part of a multi-disciplinary council services team, ensuring daily waste collection routes are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with community priorities.Contracted Hours:Tuesday to Friday37 hours per weekDaily hours: 09.25 per dayTemporary shift pattern: 6:00am 3:45pmRole ResponsibilitiesDrive and operate a 26-tonne refuse collection vehicleLead and supervise waste collection crews on daily routesEnsure completion of daily collection schedulesManage operational records via paper systems or electronic handheld devicesFull responsibility for Health & Safety compliance on daily tasksEnsure safe collection of bins and public safety along routesOperate mechanical lifting and refuse equipmentMaintain cleanliness, security, and daily checks of vehicle and equipmentDeliver high standards of customer service when interacting with residentsReport issues, hazards, or service problems to supervisors/managersSupport training and safe working practices for crew membersEssential RequirementsValid UK Class 2 (Category C) LicenceCPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)Experience driving LGV vehicles in operational environmentsStrong understanding of Health & Safety proceduresAbility to supervise and lead small operational teamsGood communication and customer service skillsPhysically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditionsDesirable (or willingness to undertake)Manual Handling trainingIOSH Working SafelyNeedle Stick awareness trainingExperience in waste management or local authority servicesWhats on OfferStable council-contracted workFixed working days (TuesdayFriday)Structured hoursLong-term contract potentialCommunity-focused public service roleSupportive operational environmentIdeal for candidates with experience as: LGV Driver, Refuse Driver, HGV Class 2 Driver, Waste Collection Driver, Municipal Services Driver, Council Services Driver.JBRP1_UKTJ
