Lecturer in Foundation Learning -Maths, English and Digital

The DurhamLearn Foundation Learning programme area delivers Digital Skills, English and Maths Functional Skills.

An opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer position on a 12-month fixed term basis to deliver high quality learning in Maths, English and Digital Skills at all levels across Durham County.

The post is Term Time + 2 weeks, 25 hours per week, fixed term to 31/07/2026


WHAT IS INVOLVED?
The post will involve extensive travel between centres with the possibility of online, evening and weekend working. This may involve long periods of standing, manual handling, lifting, carrying and erecting of equipment as well as some lone working before and after classes.

WHAT WILL I NEED?
The ideal candidate will have recent experience of teaching in one or more of the Foundation Learning delivery areas (Maths, English, ESOL), and they may be called upon to teach in other areas as required.

You shouldalso have experience in supporting learners with differing needs and delivering both informal and regulated qualifications up to Level 2, and re interested in working with learners in their communities to support their first steps into adult learning provision.

We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who have experience in delivering family learning programmes and have a good understanding of the curriculum for school aged children.

HYBRID WORKING
Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
