Job Description

Role: Lead IT Engineer

Location: Hybrid (London) (3 days onsite/2 days WFH)

Salary: Up to £45,000-£65,000

Overview

A fast-growing tech-driven organisation is seeking a Lead IT Engineer to own its internal IT environment. This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic oversight—driving stability, security and a seamless end-user experience while shaping future IT standards. You’ll also mentor a junior team member and partner closely across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Endpoint & Device Management

Own Windows device lifecycle, standard builds, compliance and Intune/Autopilot configuration. Oversee onboarding/offboarding, asset tracking and hardware planning.

Security & Compliance

Lead patching, security baselines, AV/EDR and endpoint protection. Support incident response and maintain compliance with internal policies.

Microsoft 365 & Cloud

Manage , user access, MFA, licensing and conditional access in Microsoft 365. Support a small Azure environment (VMs, networking, storage).

Operational IT Support

Act as senior point of escalation, solving issues efficiently and improving documentation. Identify recurring problems and implement long-term fixes.

Automation & Process Improvement

Use PowerShell to automate tasks and streamline workflows. Maintain accurate asset, licensing and inventory records.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work with engineering, security, people and finance teams to support business needs. Assist in audits, compliance tasks and vendor engagement.

Leadership

Guide and support a junior engineer. Promote a dependable, high-quality IT experience for all users.

What You’ll Bring

Strong hands-on experience managing Windows/M365/Intune environments. Solid knowledge of device security, compliance and troubleshooting. Ability to automate tasks, improve processes and influence best practices. Strong communicator, proactive problem-solver and comfortable owning IT end-to-end.
