An exciting opportunity has arisen within Police Scotland to be part of the Information Disclosure Team. We are looking for a leader who will support our Disclosure Officers in all matters covering Subject Access, Freedom of Information, and Protection of Vulnerable Groups. The role ensures requests are handled lawfully, on time, and in a clear and helpful way.
What you’ll be doing
Supervising and supporting staff who process FOI, Subject Access requests and oversee the PVG process.
Ensuring requests meet legal requirements and deadlines, reviewing and signing off responses before they are sent.
Handling complex, high‑risk, or sensitive cases.
Giving advice to colleagues across the organisation about information rights.
Improving processes, templates, and guidance.
Supporting training and development within the team.
Contacting regulators where necessary.
What we’re looking for
Experience working with Freedom of Information, Subject Access legislation or PVG legislation is essential.
Experience supervising staff or leading work (formal management experience is helpful but not essential).
Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage workloads, deadlines, and competing priorities.
Confidence in making decisions and explaining them clearly.
A calm and professional approach, especially with sensitive information.
