Role Profile
The role is for a Lead Platform Engineer in the Cross Functional team within the LSEG Markets Technology Services division. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in leading and implementing automated solutions, as well as extensive experience in observability and configuration management. This role combines deep technical expertise in modern DevOps practices and cross functional collaboration to ensure the reliability and resiliency of important Markets services.
The ideal candidate will possess broad experience covering application and infrastructure observability with some exposure to scripting, automation and debugging. The role is best suited to candidates with a background in DevOps and SRE.
Responsibilites
Leadership & Strategy
- Provide mentorship to a team of cloud, DevOps, observability, and automation engineers
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight to ensure service reliability, scalability, and performance
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Collaborate with senior management and stakeholders to align infrastructure strategy with business goals.
- Support divisional cloud transformation strategies, SRE adoption, and compliance with SLAs/SLOs.
- Design, implement, and manage highly available and scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using Terraform and Ansible.
- Drive automation of provisioning, scaling, and decommissioning of cloud resources to optimize costs and reduce manual effort.
- Ensure system availability, performance, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
- Lead CI/CD strategy and development using Ansible and GitLab, ensuring streamlined and reliable release processes.
- Standardize and automate operational processes, incident responses, and environment setups.
- Use scripting (Python, Shell, Bash) to automate repetitive tasks and accelerate delivery.
- Establish and govern observability standards, tooling consistency, and best practices across teams.
- Monitor systems through Datadog and related tools to detect degradation and proactively resolve issues.
- Define and track SLIs, SLAs, SLOs, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Lead periodic reviews with service owners to identify anomalies, optimize operations, and minimize downtime.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure/Cloud Management roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
- Expert in CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab.
- Proficient with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible.
- Deep understanding of monitoring and observability tools, especially Datadog.
- Experienced in troubleshooting complex system issues, incident resolution, and root cause analysis.
- Proficient in scripting (Python, Bash, Shell) and implementing automation and self-healing mechanisms.
- Hands-on knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with cloud databases such as SQL Server, Amazon Aurora, PostgreSQL, DocumentDB.
- Working knowledge of Snowflake and Oracle DB is a plus.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional).
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
- ITIL certification is a strong advantage.
- Strong technical and people management skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Proficient in MS Office tools, ServiceNow, and PowerBI systems.
- Demonstrated ability to chair meetings, present KPIs, and influence across layers.
