Key Stage 1 & 2 Primary Teacher – Supply

We are seeking experienced Primary Teachers to support schools across Leeds on short- to medium-term supply contracts. These roles are suited to professionals who can step into the classroom with confidence, deliver high-quality teaching, and maintain continuity of learning for pupils.
This is not an entry-level role. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and prior classroom teaching experience are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Deliver pre-planned lessons across Key Stage 1 and/or Key Stage 2 in line with the national curriculum.
Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with varying abilities and learning requirements.
Maintain a high standard of classroom practice that promotes engagement, progress, and achievement.
Use effective questioning and teaching strategies to support pupil understanding.
Ensure continuity of learning in the absence of the regular class teacher.
Classroom & Behaviour Management
Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies.
Create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
Establish clear expectations and routines quickly within new classroom settings.
Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour while maintaining professionalism and consistency.
Assessment & Progress
Mark and assess pupil work in line with school expectations where required.
Monitor pupil progress during lessons and provide feedback to the school.
Identify pupils who may require additional support and adapt teaching accordingly.
Liaise with support staff (e.g. Teaching Assistants) to ensure effective classroom delivery.
Professional Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with school staff and leadership teams.
Adapt quickly to different school environments, policies, and expectations.
Uphold high standards of professionalism, punctuality, and presentation.
Follow all safeguarding procedures and school protocols at all times.
Person Specification
Essential
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* Minimum 1–2 years’ experience teaching in a UK primary school.
* Strong knowledge of the Key Stage 1 and/or Key Stage 2 curriculum.
* Proven ability to manage a classroom independently.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to adapt quickly and confidently to new school environments.
* Professional, reliable, and organised approach to work.
Desirable
* Experience across both KS1 and KS2.
* Experience working in a supply teaching role.
* Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
* Strong behaviour management strategies and classroom control.
* Familiarity with different school systems and teaching approaches.
Safeguarding & Compliance
* Enhanced DBS (required).
* Two references required, including most recent employer.
* Proof of right to work in the UK required.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in education.
Additional Information
* Roles available across Leeds and surrounding areas.
* Contracts range from daily supply to several months.
