Job Overview:
The Hawkley Inn is looking to recruit a Junior Sous Chef/skilled cook! A friendly Country fresh food led pub. Everything is made in house.
Duties: - Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping vegetables, cutting meat, making desserts, plating food. - Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff - Follow recipes and presentation specifications to ensure consistency and quality - Monitor food stock and communicate any shortages or discrepancies to the Chef - Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner and meets food safety standards - Clean and maintain workstations, equipment, and utensils - Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies as needed - Collaborate with the team to develop new menu items and specials - Ensure compliance with inhouse HACCP and food hygiene, health, and safety systems to ensure compliance. - Assist & Support the Head Chef with the day to day running of the kitchen - Have the ability to work & train on every section - Competent & confident in training new staff - Ability to learn & understand new cooking techniques
Qualifications: - Proven experience as a skilled Chef or relevant role in a fast-paced kitchen environment - Knowledge of culinary techniques and practices - Ability to work well under pressure in a high-volume setting - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills - Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils - Excellent communication and teamwork skills - Ability to follow instructions and adhere to food safety guidelines
